The Henderson, Hong Kong’s new luxury landmark designed by world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects, is proud to announce that three of its culinary and bar concepts — Hana no Kumo, Peridot, and Akira Back — have been nominated in the Prix Versailles 2026. A total of 16 restaurants were designated with the “World’s Most Beautiful” achievement, with all three Hong Kong nominations located within The Henderson in Central. Earlier this year, The Henderson also named World’s Best Property at the International Property Awards.
Elevating Hong Kong’s reputation as a global gastronomic hub, the award repositions The Henderson as a destination of experiential sky-high dining, where architectural excellence and immersive spatial design converge with exquisite cuisine in ground-breaking experiences. Located in the heart of Central, the building’s visionary exteriors of fluid, organic lines capture the ethereal grace of a Bauhinia flower in mid-bloom and continue within imaginative interiors that unfold as a multi-sensory culinary paradise.
Akira Back — A Modern Culinary Canvas Where Art Meets Dynamicism
On the 5th floor, Akira Back welcomes diners for a “culinary symphony” — a sensory tribute to the bold and innovative spirit of Korean-American Chef Akira Back, a former professional snowboarder turned culinary master. Filled with natural light with floor-to-ceiling windows that draw the cityscape closer in the warm interiors by AB Concept unfold with sinuous curves that echo the building’s exterior, contrasted against sculptural forms and artistic elements, which include vibrant artworks by Chef Back’s mother, Young Hee Back. The first Akira Back in Hong Kong, the restaurant is part of 27 locations worldwide. It continues the chef’s signature culinary approach of traditional meets innovation, grounded by Korean-Japanese techniques and Western influences. The creative menu features unconventional dishes that defy expectations, including the signature AB Tuna Pizza, which layers fresh tuna with white truffle oil over a crispy, wafer-thin crepe. With generous sharing portions and an inviting ambience, Akira Back Hong Kong is designed for celebratory occasions, from milestone celebrations to intimate gatherings.
Peridot — A Sky-High Oasis of Surrealism and Curious Mixology
Nestled within the sky-high sanctuary of Summit 38 is Peridot, an immersive, dream-like world of surrealism that echoes the innovative cross-boundary concept of mixology, design, and cuisine with an overarching philosophy of “Natural Futurism”. Vivid shades of signature green decorate the stunning interior by Studio Paolo Ferrari, anchored by a gleaming marble centre-piece and glowing glass accents illuminated by the soft glow of over 20,000 hand-crafted light fixtures. Enveloping the space in a symphony of light, movement, and colour, Peridot exudes a fresh burst of vitality continued by an avant-garde menu of seasonally changing terroir-driven cocktails and innovative plant-based haute cuisine. Refreshing sensations come together in the second chapter of Peridot’s beverage offerings, which travels to the sunny region of Mexico’s Oaxaca, served with unique dishes of complex fermentation methods, including Wild Mushroom Wonton and Impossible Smash Croissant Burger with Fries.
Hana no Kumo – A Sophisticated Sanctuary of Japanese Artistry and Kappo Cuisine
Also within Summit 38, Hana no Kumo by Executive Chef Ogawa Masaru is a timeless tribute to Japanese kappou cuisine. The enchanting interiors by acclaimed design studio HBA are inspired by the elegance of Kyoto’s cherry blossom season, complemented by distinct Japanese finishes that reference the serenity of nature — washi paper accents, natural woods, and an earth-toned palette. At the center, sculptural petal-like motifs unfurl with colour-shifting lighting over the intimate 24-seater restaurant, setting an elegant scene for the immersive dining experience of seasonality, quality, and Japanese culinary artistry. Chef Ogawa expertly prepares each dish live for a mesmerising performance that demonstrates decades of expertise and exquisite craftsmanship, with seasonal creations such as Asari Clam with Steamed Sticky Rice and Hokkaido Hair, served exclusively for June.
